Profile Information

About Me:
I write poetry in Urdu, Punjabi and English languages. From among the eastern writers I'm inspired by the works of Rumi, Naziri, Mus'hafi, Ghalib, Yazdani Jalandhari, Ahmed Nadeen Qasmi and Majeed Amjad.
I like the poems of Robert Frost, Allen Ginsberg, Dean J. Baker and Ondaatje's novels, from the west.
Some of my Urdu poems have been translated into German and English, as well. Love, society and spirituality are the recurring themes of my poetry. Three of my poetry collections have been published:
-Abhi Ik Khaa'b Rehta Hai ( A Dream; Yet to Go!) Urdu poetry collection-published in 1992 & 2007.
-Neeli Raat di Chhup (The Blue Silence of Night) a collection of Punjabi poems & ghazals-published in 2002.
-Gehri Shaam Ki Bailein ( The Vines of a Deep Evening) Urdu poems and ghazals-published in 2007.
- The collections of my short stories, literary interviews, English poems and translations are in the pipeline.

I've been editing a literary magazine "Fanoos" and a socio-political magazine " Bazgasht" in Pakistan. I've also worked with the Voice of Germany (Radio Deutsche Welle, Cologne) in Germay as a producer.
Presnetly, I'm serving as the secretary of 'Halqa e Arbab e Zauq", Toronto-a literary circle mainly for the writers from the Indian sub-continent.

Hello Hamid, thanks for the friend request. I am not that often here as you can tell and I do not write that much...Unfortunately...I have been busy with visual art but I start suspecting that my heart belongs to words after all...Enjoyed your poetry very much. Greetings from Holland!
